How do I arrange to see a counsellor?Just ring 0161 440 0055 anytime - we have a 24 hour answerphone and or administration staff will contact you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can complete an online apppointment form and submit it to us directly. What happens in counselling?Counselling offers an opportunity to discover more about yourself and your own inner strengths and can help you to understand what is happening to you. It also helps you decide on your needs and priorities, helps you to accept things that cannot be changed, and can enable you to make decisions and find more effective ways of coping. Our counsellors offer you a regular and a safe space to explore whatever is important to you without judging, criticising, or offering advice. They will also work at a pace that suits you. This gives you the time to work out how to make the sort of changes you want in your life. People who make use of counselling at Beacon tell us they feel more confident, better about themselves, and that their relationships with others (partners, family, friends, or colleagues), are better. They also tell us they feel better equipped to deal with future challenges. What can we help you with?Counselling at Beacon can provide help with a wide range of issues:
A range of self-help leaflets is available at the following link on a range of common issues SELF HELP LEAFLETS The CounsellorsAll Beacon counsellors are either qualified or in the final stages of qualifying and are able to work competently with people as counsellors. Beacon and their counsellors all work within the Ethical Framework for Good Practice developed by the BACP (British Assoication for Counselling and Psychotherapy). Beacon ensures the high quality of its service through regular casework supervision for all its counsellors, through feedback from clients, providing some specialised training for its counsellors, and through keeping up to date with developments in good counselling practice. CostOur counsellors for adults are all volunteers, so are not paid for their work or for attending supervision. It costs Beacon around £35 per session to provide each session, so we ask all adults attending counselling to make a donation to cover as much of our running costs as they can. We provide counselling to adults whatever their financial circumstances, so if you are on low income, or benefits, or struggling financially, then you are still welcome. ConfidentialityCounselling at Beacon is confidential. There are certain limits to this confidentiality relating to the protection of vulnerable adults and children, and your counsellor will explain this before starting any counselling. Accessing CounsellingPress the link to the appointment form, complete it and then submit it online. Otherwise, please ring 0161 440 0055 and speak to an appointments administrator, or leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. What Happens Next?Once we have received your request or message, we will put you on the waiting list for an initial consultation. This first meeting is to help you decide if counselling is right for you at this time and to help us see if we can help or another agency would be more appropriate. If it is the right time, the counsellor will refer you on to the ongoing waiting list and Beacon will contact you as soon as an ongoing appointment becomes available. We always work to minimise waiting times, but they still vary during times of higher demand. We can give you an estimate of how long you might wait for counselling when you first contact us. |
